I’m cleaning out old drafts from this blog and found a draft for broccoli with mustard seeds, which I found (in 2006) from traveling chef Shuna Lydon’s old blog Lucullian Delights. Well, fast forward to 2024 and I found these.

The mustard seed powder provides a viable source of the enzyme myrosinase that can be sprinkled on top of the broccoli after it is cooked. Other studies have shown similar data. I usually try to sprinkle mustard seed on my cooked broccoli and other cooked cruciferous vegetables like sauteed kale.

What is myrosinase good for?

Studies have shown that myrosinase can help reduce the risk of certain cancers, improve digestion, and reduce inflammation. Additionally, it may help to reduce cholesterol levels and improve cardiovascular health. Sep 17, 2022
