As long as we have men like Alexander Tschugguel in the Church, we have hope. It wasn’t a spur of the moment decision, it took discernment and wisdom. Thank God for courageous men like him.
In the previous post I said that I will wait for fruits. But so far there have been none.
Addendum:
The best article so far, that I’ve seen on the whole Pachamama matter. Dave Armstrong is one voice among many that I trust, and there are many voices (TOO MANY). My biggest complaint is that Catholics vs. Catholics is not a pretty thing to witness (think scandal) — the name-calling and mocking, and putting the “other” into boxes. We seem to be so eager to paint each other with a broad brush EVEN AFTER years and years of friendship, like all of that goes out the window and no one wants to budge, no one wants to consider that the other person might have a point here and there even if there isn’t total agreement (there’s no such thing as total agreement between individuals anyway). These things really bring out the worst in us, don’t they? Where is the charity? But I also blame the Vatican etc. for letting confusion reign. There should have been clarity from the beginning: what exactly are these figures, why are they being brought to the Vatican, why are these “rituals” allowed to take place? instead of leaving so much room and time for people to speculate. It’s not “Western” to assume idolatry when what’s going on is so foreign to how Catholics worship regardless of place. I trust and pray and cling to what I already know and believe as a faithful Catholic. But I will stop here, since I’m no expert and am happy to let the Holy Spirit move where He will.
“Pachamama” Fiasco: Hysterical Reactionaryism, as Usual
My Last Word on the Fake “Vatican Pachamama Idols” Controversy
Luke 12:51-53
51 Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division; 52 for henceforth in one house there will be five divided, three against two and two against three; 53 they will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against her mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”
