Putting together a unit study for May.
First read this:
The Truth and Meaning of Human Sexuality: Guidelines for Education within the Family from the Pontifical Council for the Family
Then use these:
Wonders of the Human Body by Anthony Ravielli (a really old book)
Milk Matters (free coloring book from the US Dept of Health and Human Services)
Galen and the Gateway to Medicine (tie-up to Ancient Rome studies! Yay!)
Kids Discover Medicine (magazine) (Volume 12, Issue 7)
My Five Senses by Aliki
The Brain by Seymour Simon
The Heart by Seymour Simon (Migi has LOVED Seymour Simon books even as a little child of 3.)
The Magic School Bus Explores the Senses
My First Body Book (Aisa’s had this book since she was 5!) Love the simple explanations, great pics of kids, and “try-it-out” scenarios — great for practical experiments, needing no special equipment/materials!
Lots of great links here! for self-quizzing, coloring, etc.
Still looking for anatomical models. Found everything from $6+ all the way to $hundreds+
Was thinking of getting this , but I think the kids will prefer to each make their own skeleton.
