Sunday afternoon. Bong’s ironing clothes for our Prague/Vienna trip :D, Paco just got home from being with SSP folks, Nino’s waiting for Yena to wake up so they can play Lego Star Wars. Migi’s coming home tonight from DC (visiting Annie).

Went to Mass at 10; the Schrecks met us there and we ate at Pieology afterwards — loving all the custom crusts they have. We always get the huge table in the back. Jmps was wearing a Christmasy plaid shirt and he was just cute as cute can be. Lena slept the whole time we were out.

Choir is going great. My favorites are Ave Verum and Behold the Lamb.

Father’s homily was mixed. Two thoughts I’m holding on to:

  • The prayerful person is a peaceful person.
  • You can’t fight the dragon if you can’t name the dragon.

And one where I’m RME (along with the kids): he encouraged people to make the orans posture while praying the Lord’s prayer. His explanation was beautiful during the family as to why that particular posture is beautiful — it’s open hands, not close-fisted, giving it all to the Father… but looks like he chose to ignore the GIRM, which is quite uncharacteristic of him as he is such a stickler for the rubrics. My thinking is he’s gotten wind of all the recent sharing of that orans article and he wants to reassure those who pray the Our Father that way that “it’s okay”. Okay.

Meant to share several of Aisa’s articles at the newest reincarnation of her blog but didn’t get around to it before I left FB. So I’ll just leave the link here and hope that people find her. She does write beautiful, as always, and I’m very proud of her. Glad she’s tackling some really heavy topics too.

Schlosser, a professor of theology at the University of Vienna and the recipient of the 2018 Ratzinger Prize, was invited to take part in the Synodal Way’s forum “on women in ecclesial roles and offices” as an expert.

Saying she could not identify with the intermediate report of the preparatory group, Schlosser raised a number of issues, in particular identifying a “fixation on ordination” of women.

I’m rather having fun playing with WordPress again. I’ve got my Divi Theme that makes effects and columns and rows easy…. At the same time I hate plugins that don’t work and/or don’t work well with each other. So… this site will probably keep on changing until I stop rearranging the furniture.

Super-excited about our upcoming trip, and as usual I’m obsessing over itineraries and walking tours (self-designed) etc. Google Spreadsheets and Google Maps are both getting workouts. This is the first trip we are taking to Europe that I’m not practicing words or phrases at all. Too lazy for all that. 😛 Maybe I’ll YouTube something when we get to the airport LOL.

Not too excited about Bong and Yena’s upcoming trip to the Philippines. Bong’s tita died Saturday morning our time, and he spent the whole day communicating with family back home trying to figure out arrangements, etc. In your kindness please remember + Rufina Embrador in your prayers and Masses. She was one of Bong’s “moms” and he was quite attached to her. If he could have found a way to bring her here to the US and give her a more comfortable life I’m sure he would have. Anyway, Yena’s been tasked with accompanying Daddy. I have mixed feelings because I really hate for Bong to travel alone (who will take care of him?) and at the same time worrying that one or both of them will contract dengue or some other deadly disease. Shudder. Sigh. I will pray and trust. (As an aside, I made the mistake of booking flights for them that include 3 hours 45 minutes in Incheon airport on their way there and FOURTEEN+ hours on their way back. Poor them. Except not really poor them because Yena’s thrilled to be spending that much time in S. Korea. Maybe she’ll run into some Korean dude she’ll want to marry LOL. I kid but she’ll take me seriously.

In other sad news… one of my daughter’s best friends’ Dad has been diagnosed with cancer. 🙁 Please keep Mike D. in your prayers. Also Ben Hatke’s family, and the Jasko and McBride families. So many families hurting/suffering. :'(

And now I need to get off WordPress to prep Nino’s lessons for the week. I’m leaving him some (hopefully exciting) things to do! 🙂
