First time at PP (this location: http://www.plannedparenthood.org/health-center/centerDetails.asp?f=3346, not putting a direct link from here) praying last Saturday. Another family and ours went, and it was peaceful. They had 4 of their 6 there and I had all the kids. Nino was in his stroller, and stayed there a good bit before becoming restless and wanting out. We managed to chat a little, in between the chaplet and the Rosary. It was perfect — Aisa and I had M and C to talk to, and each of the kids save Nino had someone their age to talk to as well. A car came by and honked — a friendly honk, we noted. We stood there huddled underneath umbrellas, as it was raining lightly. Didn’t realize it was going to be so cold. Luckily I had brought my coat and Nino’s. I am thankful that our first time didn’t involve hecklers. This is an area of Cincinnati that’s not particularly the safest, and 3 ambulances drove by with their sirens blaring while we were there. I couldn’t help but muse, “Wow, we’re so violent.” Mass at Holy Name Church afterwards, only 2 blocks away. We plan to be back at least a couple more times before 40 Days is up.

Something that bothers me: if you go to that link above, you’ll see that they say they don’t provide abortion services at the facility, and yet I’ve talked to people with eyewitness accounts of being there, seeing pregnant women come in for an abortion. One man was praying there and a distraught pregnant teen who came alone broke down in his arms crying, saying she didn’t know what to do. So I’m either grossly misinformed, or that website is lying.

This particular PP location’s official name is the “Elizabeth Campbell Medical Center” and I was curious who this Elizabeth Campbell was, so I did some digging and found this story, and what a story it is.

A Prayer to End Abortion, from Priests for Life

Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life,
And for the lives of all my brothers and sisters.
I know there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion,
Yet I rejoice that you have conquered death
by the Resurrection of Your Son.
I am ready to do my part in ending abortion.
Today I commit myself
Never to be silent,
Never to be passive,
Never to be forgetful of the unborn.
I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement,
And never to stop defending life
Until all my brothers and sisters are protected,
And our nation once again becomes
A nation with liberty and justice
Not just for some, but for all,
Through Christ our Lord. Amen!
